I’ve been waiting for that for months. Ok I’m not ready just yet to make the move but with its new specs, the Canon EOS 1DS Mark III is ever so tempting! It’s predecessor, the Mark II was 16.9 megapixels, with its new censor bearing 21.1 Megapixels, it’s a big upgrade that levels the 35mm format digital camera to some more expensive Medium format cameras. Ok, it’s not the same as a medium format with a digital back, but between 8500$ and about 40,000$, there’s a huge gap! Canon already has a great family of lenses with the L Series lenses, and with 21 megapixels, it’s more than enough for most commercial jobs. But even when you forget about the pixel count, there’s a new feature that a lot of photographers have been waiting for: live lcd screen playback! But not only is it live, but it’s a 3inch screen! Unfortunately, this new camera is not firewire but USB2, which I think is a shame! But, fot it’s defense, it’s now holding the new DigicIII chip and a new anti-dust system that sounds efficient, but there are of course no reviews available as it will only ship in November/07!
