BURNT / A personal project

More than a year has gone by during which I wasn’t able to find time to shoot personal work. A lot of ideas remained on paper and a lot of questions came to mind when I started to plan some personal shooting time. What to shoot? Where to go? I wrote down a lot of ideas, trying to find the next project I really wanted to work on. Through the list, I was trying to link ideas together. I went through a long introspective process, asking myself where I want to go with my photography. What are the themes that define me. Though I’ve found some answers, questions remain. However, I can definitely see a creative line being drawn in the sand. And it’s with great pleasure that I present to you BURNT, a series of self-destructing portraits expressing a bit the way I felt through that process. That will to redefine myself, to reinvent my photography. The idea of disappearing only to reappear anew, phoenix style. And this is my first reappearing act! And I got to launch the series during Chromatic, unveiling three 24×42″ prints. To show this series hanging on a wall was pretty symbolic for me. I am used to see my work in print, but rarely for the purpose of being hanged on a wall. An experience I wish to repeat.
