Here are two visuals created with BleuBlancRouge for The Gazette. The concept was to invite the readers to follow the games with The Gazette on twitter during the London Olympic Games.
For the occasion, I had the opportunity to work with Art Director Sébastien Lafaye and Copywriter Maxime Paiement. It was a first collaboration and a whole lot of fun. The concept was slick and simple with a graphic twist, exactly the kind of work I want to attract! VisualBox joined the team to tie everything together! Special thanks to Thierry Lord who assisted me throughout the process!
We first shot on location at the Centre Claude Robillard track. We then shot the journalist and athletes in studio. We had also shot at the center’s pool but finally opted to shoot everything outdoors. We headed to a private pool, setup our lighting as well as a ghetto underwater camera rig to shoot over and under simultaneously. Images were then comped in post to match perspective.
Here’s a quick behind the scenes outtake to show how it was done.
The Gazette Poolside from Simon Duhamel on Vimeo.
The images were cropped to reinforce the concept but we will shortly have our own director’s cut version in a double page composition to show the athletes in full fledge!
