I usually simply connect the camera and the program detects it. But I was getting this weird message telling me that there was a communication problem because an image is being displayed on the camera’s LCD monitor… But there isn’t any image displayed!? First reaction was to update the program to the latest version. Still not working. Next reaction is to update the camera’s firmware. But it still wouldn’t work. Very frustrating…
Then I realized it was the first time I was running this program under Leopard. Could it be? So I started to look at different forums for info and finally found the answer here. So what’s the answer? Well you have to trick the computer. You display an image on the camera, then you connect it so the program will give you the error message, then you take off the image from the display, and miraculously the camera connects! That’s how I’ll have to work around the problem until Canon issues an update for Leopard!
that’s the dumbest thing ever. it says you’re displaying an image when you’re not. but you have to display one to make it work. that’s some backwards logic. oh and from now on, you must walk backwards to go forwards.
It just beats all logic! But I would like to meet the guy who found out the trick! I can imagine him thinking… « what if I display an image? »
